Welcome to Western High School’s website. I would like to personally thank you for your interest in Western High School and the things that are going on here. I am very excited about this upcoming school year and I’m personally glad that it’s finally here. As the principal of Western High School, I am charged with a very important task – to ensure that each student in this school is given every possible opportunity to develop the knowledge, experience, and work ethic necessary to excel in future endeavors.

 Having graduated from Western High School, I fully realize the obstacles that some of our students face. However, many of those obstacles exist only in our minds because of where we live. Unfortunately, many of our students and community members have accepted the notion that because we are from Appalachia and because we are economically challenged that we don’t have the opportunity to achieve our dreams. 

 The staff at Western High School is committed to changing the way we are viewed by others and the way we view ourselves. I truly believe that there are future doctors, lawyers, nurses, teachers, skilled laborers, military officers, and untold other successes waiting to happen right here in this building today. The only thing that can prevent our kids from becoming what they want to be is the limit they place on themselves. We are committed to making these great things a reality and to unlocking the potential within each student. I encourage you to become involved in the educational process here at Western. I encourage you to take note of what we’re doing here. I ask that you will encourage your teenagers to believe that they can realize their dreams, not so they can leave here, but so they can help our community thrive.
