This message is for students who ride Brandis Theobald‘s bus number five. Due to the fact we have three drivers out in the morning we will not be able to have all the routes covered so we will have to double route bus number five in the morning. I apologize for the inconvenience but due to the Covid rules we aren’t able to do some of the things with combining routes that we have done in the past. Again this is for students to ride bus number five. As soon as we send the bus out in the morning from the school I will make a call. We should be sending the bus out in the morning around 745 with the first pick up probably being around 815 but I will make contact in the morning to let you know for sure
Sports pictures will be Monday, September 28th beginning at 1pm.

Attention all students K-12 Last Thursday we posted on our Western Elementary Facebook page asking two questions about internet service. That post has been removed. We are not sure why or how that happened. We just posted this again on the district and elementary FB pages. If you already answered the questions through FB messenger, you do not have to resend. However, if you commented on the post, you will need to answer the questions again. We apologize for any inconveniences. Please answer the following questions for ALL current students in your home (even those who just graduated). 1. Do students at this address have home Internet Connectivity? If yes, what type? Satellite, wireless, Frontier/Spectrum 2. Do students at this address have home access to a device to connect to the Internet? If yes, what type? Phone, desk top computer, laptop, I Pad. We need a response ASAP. You can message the school through FB messenger or call 740-493-2881. If no one answers, please leave a message. Again, this is for EVERY current student in our district.
Youth league softball and baseball update The Western Youth league committee is disappointed to inform you, that we will be canceling spring baseball and softball. We are also grateful for all of the parents, coaches and players support and patience throughout this difficult time. We want to make sure we are doing what’s best for our kids and community, and with everything going on we feel canceling is the only option. Unfortunately shirts and hats have already been purchased and are non-refundable. We will be adding a $25 credit for kids to play next year. If for any reason your child doesn’t play next year we will give you the $25 in a refund after signups. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope that everyone understands that we are doing the best we can to keep everyone safe. We will be at the school Tuesday May 12th 5-7 Wednesday 13th 9-12pm so you can pick up your child’s shirt, hats and parent shirts that were ordered! We will be set up in the JUNIOR HIGH BUBBLE. Please call or message Lisa Knisley ( 740-648-9608) if these times do not work for you! Please do not call the school.
Primary/elementary families There are still several students who have not turned in work and/or picked up their belongings. We are extending the date for both to Wed. May 13th. Work can be turned in two ways: 1. Emailing completed work to teachers 2. Dropping off completed work to the school and placing in the bin. The office will be open Monday-Friday from 8-3:00 for student belonging pick up. However, school work can be dropped off at any time and placed in the bin. There is also a table outside with lost and found items. We realize this is a lot on the families and students. However, we are asking for an effort to be made on the work. The teachers are available to answer any questions you have.
This is a reminder to all students in grades 7-12 that all work for the last nine weeks is due today. There is a student drop box outside in front of the high school office for you to drop your work in. Also, please remember that lockers have been cleaned out. Student belongings are in the front high school office if you have not yet picked up your things out of your lockers. Please call ahead if you would like to come and pick up your belongings.
Just a reminder today, Fri. May 8th, is the last day to pick up student belongings for students in grades K-6. We will be here until 1:00p.m. today. Today is also the due date for work sent home the week of April 6. There is a black tub outside the office door if you need to turn in papers, or you can email pictures to the teachers.
Western primary/elementary students Reminder: you can pick up your child’s belongings tomorrow and Friday from 9-1:00. 5th/6th your items have been bagged and can be picked up in the main office. Also all work needs to be turned in by Friday, May 8th.
The following is a message concerning our academic banquet, academic awards ceremonies, 8th grade graduation, and 2020 prom. We are in the process of preparing awards for the academic banquet, awards day ceremony and 8th grade graduation. All awards and certificates have been ordered and are being printed out. Awards and certificates will be given out by appointment. Students will have their picture taken with their awards/certificates and will be posted on our school Facebook pages. Any student who cannot get their picture taken with their certificates will have them mailed home. Some senior scholarships have been pushed back so we are going to hold off until we can have as many scholarship recipients in as possible in order to accurately represent each students actual awards. We are still holding out hope that we can still have 2020 prom in some form. We will let students know as soon as possible what our plans are. It is postponed indefinitely but it has not been canceled in hopes that we will be able to have this special event for our seniors.
Dear students, parents and guardians, To the class of 2020, “The Class that Couldn’t be Stopped.” We apologize that we couldn’t get a detailed plan out to you earlier but the directions for graduation from Governor Dewine were very fast-changing and we are just now able to get a detailed plan in place. Seniors, a letter explaining the specifics of graduation is being sent out Monday. We have gone through many different possible plans and scenarios in order to determine the best possible way to honor our graduates while also keeping the social distancing requirements in place in order to keep everyone safe. We believe that we have found the best way to accomplish both goals and get as close to a typical graduation ceremony as possible. * We will be hosting a 2020 graduation parade where graduates will arrive in their caps and gowns for a parade throughout the community prior to the graduation ceremony on Friday, May 15th. More specific information on the parade will follow shortly. This our way of honoring our seniors. This will be a very special time for everyone in the community to show up to wish them well and let them know how much we support, appreciate and love our graduates. * WHS is hosting a drive-in style graduation beginning at 6:30pm on Friday, May 15th. Graduate’s vehicles will enter and park according to the following order: Valedictorian, Salutatorian, and Class President. Students will be parked alphabetically following Valedictorian, Salutatorian and Class President. * The letter being sent out Monday will have 2 tickets in it. Each senior may have two vehicles attend. Graduates must not ride together but must ride in their own vehicles. Vehicle drivers will present the tickets when entering the parking lot in the back of the high school where the graduation will take place. Each vehicle must have a ticket when entering the parking lot. We would like to have more people attend but this is all that our parking lot will allow while still maintaining social distancing rules. Saying two vehicles allows for more people to possibly attend per graduate and family while not limiting to a certain number of persons. * Vehicles will line up when the time comes in the order that graduates will walk across the stage to receive their diplomas. One at a time, seniors will get out of their car in front of the stage which will be outside in front of the back high school gym entrance. The graduate’s name will be announced as they walk across the stage and receive their diploma. The family may get out of the vehicle to take pictures during this time. Only individuals from the two vehicles designated by the graduate are permitted to get out to take pictures when the graduate walks across the stage. Professional pictures will be taken on the stage as the senior receives their diploma and another picture of the graduate will be taken after they step off the stage. Picture packets will be provided and collected before the graduate walks across the stage. * After pictures are taken, the graduate will get back into their vehicle and drive back around to their orginal parking spot until all the graduates have received their diplomas. * We will have professional videos being taken both from ground view and from above weather permitting, which will be posted on our school social media pages. * As the graduation concludes, graduates will step out of their cars when given the direction, to switch their tassels to the other side of their cap to signify their new title of official 2020 graduate of Western High School. * There will be a video of the graduation ceremony made available to all graduates. Congratulations to each and every graduate! You are an amazing group of young ladies and gentlemen. We couldn’t be more proud of you for handling these tough situations with so much grace and dignity. You will always stand out among the classes as the “class that couldn’t be stopped”. You will go on to amazing things and do amazing things even though you had to endure tough disheartening situations your senior year, you will continue to rise above it. If anyone has questions after you receive your letters in the mail, please don’t hesitate to call. Ms. Gast- High school principal: 740-493-2514 Mr. Brewster- Superintendent: 740-493-3113

This message is for all students in grades 7-12. Students should either be working on packets or they should be working online. All work is due by May 8th. If you have packets to turn in, you may turn them in the dropbox which is in front of the high school office entrance. Students will be graded based on their effort to complete and turn in their work. Obviously, we cannot give a grade to someone who does not make an effort to complete their assignments and turn in their class work. All the work is review because we realize that new content would be very difficult for students to complete without regular classroom access to their teacher and we want to make sure that students are retaining what they’ve learned to some extent this year.p If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the high school office from 8 AM to 1 PM or message us through the high school Facebook page and we will get back to you. College Credit students, please make sure you are completing your work as you normally would for college credit. We miss you all greatly and hope you’re all doing well. Take care and be safe.

To our students and parents, we have created a post on our high school Facebook page which has links to websites that students can use to keep up on what they’ve already learned this year and to review. This list is from our junior high and high school teachers. I will continue to update as I get information from teachers. Let me know if you need anything printed off on a paper copy by messaging the high school page and I’ll get it to you! Thank you and take care everyone!
All practices have been canceled for the upcoming week. No practices next week.
Right now we have very limited information beyond the fact that school will be canceled for the next three weeks. Our first day back will be April 6 as of now. We have a meeting tomorrow with all the superintendents in Ross and Pike Counties. After that I will have much more information, hopefully. I don’t have an answer for questions about athletics or musicals or anything else in reality, unfortunately! As soon as I get information I will relay it to you. I know this is all crazy and new and concerning so I will do my best to keep you updated not only about school issues but also about precautions and advice from health officials. You can follow the Pike County General Health District Facebook page for updated information.
I should’ve added this to the earlier call but I forgot. Students will also be out on Tuesday for the primary election. We were going to have a professional development day on March 20 anyway. It has been scheduled for the entire school year but due to the primary election using our school as a polling place we changed the date and will be closed on Tuesday in order to allow the public to use our school as a polling place with no interference in the educational process. There will be no school on Friday or Tuesday but students will be going to school on March 20.
Due to a sharp increase in the number of flu cases in the past week we will be closing on Friday in order to give our custodians a chance to thoroughly clean both buildings. We’ve had at least 21 confirmed flu cases in just the elementary building since Friday morning. We had 100 students out today with 71 being in the elementary building. This has nothing to do with the coronavirus but it has everything to do with the flu which has definitely had a major impact on us throughout the winter. We hope that giving the kids an extra day away from each other will reduce the spread. If you have kids who are showing any signs please don’t send them to school. We have kids coming to school every single day with a fever over 100 when they walk in the building. That is just causing this to go on and on. Believe me if your kid is sick we will work with you on the attendance side so please keep them home so they can get better and not make anyone else sick.
Hat Day Tomorrow! Bring $1 and wear your hat all day! All proceeds go to benefit Big Brothers, Big Sisters!
PreK-6th Grade Dr. Seuss Literacy Night this evening from 6:00-7:00.0
SOMC Western Family Practice will be closed today from 11:15-1:15 due to a staff meeting. Sorry for any inconvenience.
We apologize for the inconvenience but due to an unexpected bus situation we’re going to have to do a short double route for Marvin Mustard‘s bus number 10. Students who ride his bus will be arriving home around 20 to 30 minutes later than normal. Penny May will be taking Marvin‘s kids after she runs her route. We are getting her out of here at a soon as possible to minimize the change in drop off time.
Seniors, Herff Jones will be at the High School Friday morning (and then go to the CTC) to pass out graduation items. If you have paid your balance you will be able to take home your items. Do to the to the potential for black ice we will be having a two hour delay for February 27, 2020. Most of what I’m seeing on the road is standing water and hasn’t frozen but there is a potential for those places to freeze as it gets more toward daylight. There are some definite slick spots out there but I’m afraid they will get worse as it drops a few degrees before daylight so in the name of safety we’re going to have a two hour delay
We are having a practice lockdown drill this morning at 9:30. All of your students have been informed and we have explained the process in detail to the younger students. This is just a notification to parents so if you hear anything about a lockdown you will know it is a drill. The sheriffs office has been notified, also.

I didn't do a very good job of explaining our situation on the phone last night. I was making the call from a ballgame and trying to get it out quickly in order to make it better for parents and kids. Please let me clarify our situation Our primary reason for cancelling is because of the combination of school staff, bus driver, and student illnesses. This is the worst that combination has been. The elementary absences are actually down a little but the high school absences were up yesterday, as were the number of high school students leaving due to illness. If it weren't for the number of bus drivers out sick we would not have cancelled. We were definitely on the borderline but that was the deciding factor. I have bus drivers that would drive on their deathbeds if I asked them to but it's not fair to them or the kids to have them driving when they're sick. There are 7 high school staff members who are sick in addition to the 5 bus drivers. I also want to clarify the CTC open house situation. The open house is at the CTC. It has nothing to do with us. I was letting our kids and parents know that the CTC still wants our kids to come to the open house tonight. They didn't want our kids to think they couldn't come because we're closed. The open house is for any student interested in going to the CTC next year. I'm sorry I didn't clearly explain. I knew the sophomores would understand what I was meaning. I didn't think about people thinking we were having an open house here. I apologize for the confusion. I also understand there will always be different opinions about continuing athletic activities when school is closed. Of the 65 students out yesterday at the high school, none were high school basketball players or cheerleaders. If you would like to call me and chew on me about the decision to continue athletic events when we're closed please feel free to do so. My number is 740 493 3113. Believe me, I see both sides. I will do my best to explain all sides of the situation. If you want an answer then a personal call or message is the only way to do that. I do want to reiterate that this closure is as much about busing and sick staff members as the total number of students sick. We are hoping that this long weekend combined with some colder weather will help.
WHS Art Club Fundraiser!! This FRIDAY!! February 14 at the Western High School Boy’s Basketball Game!! Come “bail” out your favorite staff member, or pay money to keep them in! Those not picked up will be sent home with students on Tuesday.
Unfortunately we are going to have to cancel Thursday and Friday due to illness. Today was the worst day of the year so far at the high school. Had over 110 kids out with lots leaving sick. Hopefully these two days plus the three day weekend will get everything cleared out. The CTC open house is still on for our students for tomorrow night.
If any area schools cancel tomorrow, the spelling bee will be rescheduled for the 18th of this month.
We are having school tomorrow!!! Hoping the flu has left Latham!! If your student exhibits any signs of the flu please keep them home. Hoping to get back on track tomorrow. Please send us your flu-free children! There are lots of illnesses going around. Better to be safe.
Girls biddy basketball is cancelled for today due to back road conditions. It will be moved to next Saturday, Feb 15th.
Since our original date for homecoming was canceled (visiting school canceling due to illness) our homecoming queen and her court will be announced at the February 12th game against Green.
Basketball schedule changes: The rescheduled high school boys game against Green that was to be played tonight has been rescheduled once again (due to Green’s students still dealing with flu)- will now be played Feb 12th. New Boston also had to cancel the jr high game for today due to too many out sick.
Homecoming update: The homecoming ceremony will start at 7pm this Saturday, February 1st. The ceremony will be held in the high school gym. The homecoming dance will follow the homecoming ceremony and will be held in the high school cafeteria as already planned. The homecoming ceremony will also take place again on Tuesday, February 4th at the rescheduled Green game.
I apologize for messing this up. I should have gotten it right the first time but I wasn’t really prepared to do this tonight. We will have the homecoming ceremony and dance on Saturday night. There will not be a game. We will get details out to the kids first thing tomorrow morning about how it will all work and whether or not they want to redo the ceremony at our last home game. Either way we will be having our homecoming ceremony and dance on Saturday night. It’s impossible to make everyone happy in this situation so I am choosing to think about the kids who have spent lots of time and money preparing for Saturday night. We did this one other time and it worked out fine.
There’s a possibility that we could have a dance on Saturday night and do the whole thing then. We will talk about it in the morning and let students know as soon as possible. We will meet with all the kids in the homecoming first thing in the morning and make a decision and let everyone know.
I should know better than to make an announcement from home without looking at the schedule. We are away next Friday night. We will reschedule the homecoming game and dance for the night we play East. We will confirm everything in the morning and let the students know. Sorry for the inconvenience. We tried our best to work it out but were unable to.
We just received a message from the athletic director at Green high school. Due to a flu outbreak and school being canceled they have canceled our game for tomorrow night. Their district policy doesn’t allow them to travel if they don’t have school. I wanted to get the message out as soon as possible so kids would know tonight that the homecoming game and dance have been postponed. The plan is to have both next Friday night. We will confirm that tomorrow morning and give students the details.
Tomorrow is Mathlete vs. Athlete for Homecoming week!

Reminders: there will be no game tonight. It has been moved to January 15th due to New Boston needing to change the date. This coming Saturday is a super Saturday and also our Hall of Fame night. Games on Saturday will begin at 4:30 pm against Paint Valley. The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place between the boys and girls varsity games. Also, please bring cash to bid on Silent Action fundraiser items to benefit our National Honor Society. Many of the baked goods have been donated by some of our best cooks in the community! They will be well worth the bidding!
Sorry for the second text but I have a correction. The open house is 3 to 7 tonight. The ribbon-cutting ceremony is shortly after three but they will be open until seven for the open house.
Just a reminder about the open house for the SOMC Western clinic tonight from 3-5. I think people will be shocked when they see it in person. Please come out and see the clinic and meet the staff. Also, we mailed home consent forms to every student. The form must be filled out before your student can be treated so please look for them in the mail if you have not already received it. If you don’t want to return them advance that’s fine but please keep the form on hand in case it is needed in the future.

The goal is to prepare our students not to scare them but we will be conducting the drill in the same manner as if there were a real emergency however we will not be attending to scare the students but procedurally we will do it the same way. We will be explaining to your students in the morning that this is only a drill so we will not scare them but we do want to encourage you to talk to your student tonight about the importance of safety drills.

Any student in kindergarten that has not had their required immunizations for school will need to get the immunizations and turn in proof to the school before September 4, 2019. Letters were sent home in book bags last week with students who still need to get the immunizations. If the student’s immunization record is not up-to-date, or we have not received written proof of your child receiving the vaccine, you will be in violation of Ohio law, and it will become necessary to exclude this student from school until we receive the updated information. This absence will be unexcused. If you have any questions please contact Holly Tackett, school nurse, at 740-493-2831. Thank you.

If you plan to play football in grades seven through 12 this year you must contact Coach Reese today either directly or through Facebook. We will assume anyone he does not contact him today is not planning to play and we will base our numbers on that.

Attention Western Boys Basketball Youth: Due to low number of kids signed up for camp (3 with paper turned in and 3 other phone calls that aren’t 100%) we are going to cancel youth camp for this summer. If you have turned stuff in we will get you your things back. We are not abandoning the idea of working with the youth. Instead we are going to put on some free clinics during the fall and winter for our young guys and try to get enough interest to start youth camp back up next summer. As much as I do not want to I’m going to have to cancel today. The other three schools and the CTC have already canceled which means our CTC kids would be out anyway. Most of our roads are in good shape but the hills are slick in spots. Even my biggest supporters would think I’m an idiot if we are the only school in the county to go and there was an accident with a bus or a student driver. If you think I’m nuts for canceling then you have a good argument but I’m not willing to be the only want to go to school in the county and risk an accident because some of the roads are definitely slick in spots. With that being said Western will be out today.
Two hour delay for Western this morning. Roads are bad and I don’t anticipate having to close but the radar shows that it is going to keep snowing for a while so more than anything just want to make sure we don’t hit something really hard coming down while buses are out and a delay should take care of that problem.
The Heart for Art field trio for students in k-6th has been cancelled for tomorrow. Reschedule date is March 22nd.
Bus 9 will be running about 15 to 20 minutes late this morning due to an unexpected driver call off this morning.
The Health department will be coming in today from 10:00 until 2:00 to give immunizations for any student going into 7th and 12th grade next fall. Parents must come in to complete a permission slip if you did not send one in with your student. This is a great opportunity to take advantage of getting your kids shots. This is required by law for your student to attend school.
Track practice is canceled for today 3/4/2019.
Due to no school, we are canceling tonight’s workshop. We will not reschedule but will just have one workshop tomorrow. Please make plans to attend. 3:30-5:30.
We will be operating on a two hour delay for Monday, March 4, 2018. The main roads are in pretty good shape but most or all of the hills are snow-covered.
Students who ride Penny May’s bus 12 will be leaving early today. We will be sending them out of here at 2:15 today. If you have any questions or concerns about your students leaving early please call 740-493-3113.
Students who ride bus 14 will have an alternate bus schedule in the morning. I made a one call explaining the changes. If you have a student on bus 14 and did not receive the one call please call me at 740-222-8311 and I will explain the changes.
Marvin just left the school headed to start Brandis’ route. He should be at the first pick up around 7:55 which would make the entire route running about an hour late.
We will have to double route for bus five this morning due to an unexpected situation. All of our subs are currently driving. Soon to ride bus five will be picked up approximately one hour later than normal today. We will be sending a bus from school at around 730 and I will make a call and text to let you know when the first students will be picked up. Sorry for the inconvenience.
The Health Department will be coming on March 5 to give immunizations for any student going into 7th and 12th grade next fall. Permission slips need to be turned in by the March 4th. This is a great opportunity to take advantage of getting your kid shots.
Prom will be Saturday, May 11th at Christopher’s Conference Center in Chillicothe. We will have the grand march at the school as always before students leave to go to prom venue.

Due to several conflicts, the theater workshops that were scheduled for Feb. 20th and 21st and the auditions that were scheduled for February 23rd are canceled. We will reschedule within the next week or so.
As if we haven’t had enough bad luck we now are in a power outage and the electric will not be on until at least 930 according to AEP. In order to have school we have to have lunch started by no later than 8 o’clock so it’s not gonna be possible to have school today due to a major power outage that is affecting almost the entire district in addition to the school itself.
Juniors will not be testing for the ACT today. We will reschedule
2 hour delay for 2/20. Hoping to be able to have school after the delay but will make decision by 6:45. We have had heavy rain and right now it is icing. Hopefully the temperature will come up in the next hour.
Due to several conflicts, the theater workshops that were scheduled for Feb. 20th and 21st and the auditions that were scheduled for February 23rd are canceled. We will reschedule within the next week or so.

The state required ACT test for Juniors will be Wednesday February 20th. All juniors (those who attend the CTC and the high school) will need to be at the high school at 7:45 Wednesday morning for the test.
I apologize for taking so long to do this drive and fighting this all evening but I have decided to go ahead and call a two hour delay for tomorrow morning. I’ve driven several county roads and almost all of them have standing water covering part of the road. Some roads like red bridge and Bell Hollow have water completely covering them right now. I’m also concerned about downed trees and I want to give a drivers the best chance to see any potential hazards left over from flooding or from the wind so we will be operating on a two hour delay for tomorrow morning. I think we will be able to have school tomorrow but I’m afraid I can’t get all of the roads checked in the morning before 6 AM to make the best decision possible.
Softball conditioning is canceled for tonight due to roads becoming potentially worse than they are now with more rain forecasted. Apologies for any confusion!
Softball conditioning isn’t mandatory. Do not attempt traveling your roads if there’s any flooding.
Softball conditioning will start at 4:30 today and go to 5:30
Softball conditioning is still on 4:00 to 5:30
The boys games for tonight are canceled. We will let you know when they are rescheduled as soon as possible.
Bus 1 may be running a few minutes late because of a tree down on the route
Junior high boys and girls game is still on for tonight. Varsity girls game is still on for tonight at home also. Reminder that tonight is senior night for the girls! Western Lady Indians Softball Conditioning is still on for today Monday Feb 11 4:30-5:30. Junior high Gym. Dress for success in shorts or sweatpants, t-shirt, and tennis shoes! (Dress appropriately) Also, bring a water bottle! Go Indians! 💚
5th/6th grade students: The due date for the scientific research report is now due Thursday, Feb. 14th. The whole science fair project that consists of the report and display board, to get a chance of moving on to the district science fair, will be due on Tuesday, February 19
Western will be closed on Monday due to icy roads.
We are going to be operating on a two hour delay for Monday due to icy road conditions and cold temperatures overnight. Expecting everything to be fine in the morning but roads are terrible right now and we are afraid that they won’t warm up enough to melt overnight. We’d rather have daylight to navigate the roads.
The boys games for tonight are still on. Basketball players and cheerleaders can be at the school by 3:30 pm. You will be fed today before the game.
Unfortunately due to 3 Major Rd. closures in the district we are going to have to cancel today. That in addition to the fact it is going to only be 26 by the time we let out of school forces me to have to cancel. Redbridge Road, Beavers Ridge Road, and 124 below Idaho are all underwater. Beavers Ridge being closed is always our biggest issue because we have buses that have to get off of there trough Idaho to get to other routes.
We will be operating on a two hour delay for Friday, February 8.
Senior night for our girls is rescheduled for Monday night.
The high school girls and Jr. High games have been cancelled for this evening. A make up day for the game and senior night has not been determined at this time.
I have never canceled school on a forecast but after yesterday and with the forecast of rain coming today my fear is that we would have to have an early dismissal again after the delay which wouldn’t make any sense because we would.be spending more time on buses today than in the classroom. Forecast says anywhere between 3/4 of an inch and 2 inches. We could possibly handle 3/4 that we couldn’t handle anymore than that without the ditches being in the same condition as yesterday. If we don’t get the rain I will apologize for canceling on a forecast. If we do it will look like a smart idea! That’s the world I live in every day!
I’m going to go ahead and call a two hour delay for tomorrow morning. The forecast isn’t talking about a lot more rain through the night but I’m more worried about ditches and back roads still being flooded in the morning and also the likelihood of debris laying on the road. I would much rather deal with that in the daylight than the dark.
All students will be dismissing at 1:30 except students who ride Tonda Hatfields bus number 10 will be leaving today at 12:30
I think this may be an unnecessary precaution however I promised I would never take a chance with flooded roads so we are going to dismiss today at 1:30. Right now sunfish is pretty good but there is a storm coming through around 1 o’clock according to the radar that could be heavy rain and I don’t want to get an inch dumped on us before we can get out of here. We may find out that everything was fine but I don’t want to take that kind of chance.
College credit plus meeting reminder for Wednesday, February 6 at 6 PM in room 101. This is for any student and their parents grades seven through 12. Also, tournament tickets for girls are now on sale in the high school office. Cost for tickets is $5

We are going to go ahead and close for Thursday due to the high water and ice on the roads. They’re getting ready to close 124 in Idaho and we have several roads that have water issues and we are also dealing with ice. Although it looks good by this afternoon this morning is definitely going to be a no go so everyone have a great day.
I apologize for the late notice but I have had a terrible time getting this message sent. We are going to have a two hour delay tomorrow mainly due to flooded ditches and standing water on the roads and also the possibility of ice tomorrow morning. I don’t want student drivers or buses coming up on flooded roadways in the dark in the morning especially with the possibility of ice due to the 26° forecasted temperature. Again I apologize for the late call but it has not been due to lack of effort!!!
We will be running Red Bridge this afternoon so any students who live on Red Bridge who are here today can be taken home by bus

Bus 14 will not be running Davis Road this morning. Just a word of caution to anyone driving back roads warning that there is a fine mist and when it hits the cold road that has any snow cover it is slick so please use extra caution this morning when driving. Main roads are good at this point
Tomorrow night, Tuesday Jan 15th will be a triple header game vs Peebles at home 5:00 Jr. High boys followed by JV boys then varsity boys. Go Indians! 💚🏀
High School Make-Up Basketball Game Dates: Boys 1/29 @ Paint Valley Girls 1/16 @ Paint Valley
The 3rd-6th grade youth league basketball games have been cancelled for today. They will be rescheduled at the end of the season.
Due to 124 being closed above the fish hatchery student to ride bus number five and best number 18 will be arriving home possibly a few minutes later or a few minutes earlier than normal because we have had to reroute the buses. Students should be home close to normal time but a couple of the routes had to run backwards because of the road closure.
We had a sub driver not show up this afternoon so Marvin’s students will be arriving home around 25 minutes later than normal. Students who ride bus 10 will be coming home on bus nine today and will arrive around 25 minutes later than normal.

Tonda had trouble getting her bus started and will be running about 15 to 20 minutes late this morning
Bus 18’s first pick up is normally at 6:40. We will try to have the bus leaving here by 7:40 so the first pick up should be around 7:50. Students should get picked up around one hour and 10 minutes later than normal. We will run the route in the same way it normally runs in the morning.
I have already sent the voice call about this but I want to put it out in print also. We do not have a driver for Bus 18 tomorrow. Therefore we will have to do a double route. We will send a bus from the school at around 7:40 to begin Teresa’s route. First pick up should be around 8 AM or a little after. I apologize in advance for the inconvenience.
Bus 16 cannot get past Shannon‘s house on Beekman Ridge due to an electric fire and so the back end of Beekman Ridge Road will not be picked up. Students will be excused.
The last message was for students who ride bus 15 only.
Shannon Beekman has a tree on fire in her driveway and has to wait for it to be moved. She will be running late and I don’t want everyone to stand outside and wait so I will notify you when she leaves her house.
This message is going out to everyone for safety but it is only for students to ride Kelly May’s bus 14. We were unable to get a sub driver for Kelly this morning and by the time we would double route students would get here after 11:30. Students who ride Kelly’s bus are not required to attend today and will be given an excused absence if they do not come to school. Any student who wants to come to school today from that bus is more than welcome to but we will not be able to take you home this afternoon so you would have to be picked up. I am very sorry for the inconvenience but the delay caused a double route not to work as it normally would.
We have ice in the tree tops but the roads are fine. Temperature is 32 now and rising. We will be having school. Drivers be careful on bridges and we will see everyone at 10 o’clock.
