We had to double route Debbie Scarbrough's bus today. Penny will be taking her kids home about 10 minutes earlier than normal and coming back to get Debbie's. Debbie's kids will probably arrive home about 30 minutes later than normal.
The High School & Junior High attendance meetings that were scheduled for last week, and cancelled because for the weather, will be rescheduled very soon. New meeting letters will go out in the mail and we will also post on here to notify as well. If you have any questions please contact the high school office. Thank you.
We have to split Donna's route in the morning because we are short on subs. Doug will pick up Donna's kids on Lapperell and Stewart and Purdue approximately 20 minutes later than Donna normally does. Brandis will pick up Donna's kids on grassy Fork approximately 20 minutes later than later than Donna normally does.
Friday, February 21st will be the 2025 Junior High Spelling Bee. This will take place in the High School Gym starting at 9:00AM. Parents & Family of the participants are welcome to attend. You must enter through the front of the school and check in at the High School office. Please check with your child to see if they signed up for this, because it does not include all 7th & 8th Graders. The spelling bee only includes those students who signed up to participate. If you have any questions please contact the Spelling Bee advisor & coordinator Carolyn Wessel at the High School.

Just a reminder that there is no school on Friday or Monday. Both are scheduled days off on the district calendar.
High School Staff may wear Western spirit shirts to school tomorrow Thursday, February 13th. This is in honor & support of the Varsity Girls basketball tournament game. No Jeans!
There's no need putting off inevitable. We are now on a level two and the temperature is forecasted to stay right around 32 so the snow isn't going anywhere tonight. The roads are really slick right now and won't get any better overnight. The forecast is calling for freezing rain as we get towards the morning There's no need inconveniencing parents in the morning so we are going to go ahead and call a cancellation for tomorrow.
The weatherman got it right they were just a few hours late. We are going to call a two hour delay for tomorrow morning hoping the roads clear up. Most of the roads are snow covered right now and the temperatures are supposed to stay right around 32 all night long so we will start out on a two hour delay.
Unfortunately, the forecast hasn't changed. Still calling for 1 to 3 inches today so we are going to go ahead and cancel.
Based on the forecast for tomorrow, I'm going to go ahead and call a two hour delay for tomorrow morning. The snow is supposed to start about seven in the morning and it's going to be one of the situations where it doesn't make any sense to wait till tomorrow morning and inconvenience everybody at the last minute. If it misses then we've just had a two hour delay, but if it hits and I have to call it at 5:30 in the morning, then everybody will have to scramble to make plans. We are right on the edge of the winter storm warning line so hopefully it stays south and we all have to deal with any more than just a couple of inches or maybe even less.
Board of Education Meeting 2/10 @ 6pm in the Rich Walls Boardroom.

This message is for students who ride Jimmy Cox's bus. There's a powerline down on the end of Leeth Creek where he lives on the township part so he will not be running that part of his route.
I apologize for the late notice, but we are going to have to cancel school on Wednesday in order to you allow staff members to attend Toni Chandler's visitation and funeral. Both the visitation and the funeral will be held at Western High School. Visitation will be from 11 to 1 with the funeral following. Again, I apologize for the inconvenience to parents. We tried to work it out to where we could have school and still allow staff members to attend, but we were not able to get everything covered.
We are moving our CTC tours to Tuesday February 4, 2025. Sophomores will be riding the bus to the CTC in Piketon in order to have hands on experience and learn about the programs offered at the CTC. The bus will leave around 8:05 am and return around 2:00 pm. Students received a permission slip on Thursday. ONLY return the permission slip if you do not give your child permission to go to the CTC tomorrow. Thank you!
Attention parent and guardians of 10th grade students. The 10th grade students recieved a letter today that will inform you about CTC tours on Wednesday, February 5th. You ONLY need to return it signed if you DO NOT want your student to go. Thank you.
