I had planned to have kids come tomorrow but the snow is forecasted to start around 2pm tomorrow and the last thing I want to do is try to get kids home in snow. We are going to have staff report to work tomorrow at 8am. I'll make sure to get everyone home well before the snow starts so I'll monitor that closely. I know that Waverly is closing and I assume maybe Piketon and Eastern also but I'm not sure. If you aren't able to get anyone to watch your kids you can bring them with you (as long as you keep them in your rooms). We'll use tomorrow for some individual PD and I know that several people have a reading PD already scheduled. Bethany and JR will be in communication regarding expectations for tomorrow.
The homecoming game has been rescheduled for next Friday 1/17. The dance will be Saturday evening 1/18. The boys have an away game at North Adams, but it is a 2:45 start. This is our only home Friday night open Saturday night, weekend until the last game of the season. Everything will be just the same as was planned for this weekend. It's just going to be postponed for one week. Every reschedule brings some inconvenience with it, but this is the only option where we can have a game on Friday and the day it's on Saturday.
I've been out driving all evening and we are going to do do everything possible to have school on Friday with limited busing. I'll make the call for sure tomorrow afternoon after we get all of our buses plowed out.
We will be canceling tomorrow. I'll put out the official message a little later today regarding the ball game and homecoming. I'm sure everyone has already figured out that we're going to cancel both with our current conditions and the forecast but I'll put out the detailed info later today.
I know the burning question on everyone's mind (at least at the JH/HS) concerns homecoming. There hasn't been a decision made yet but if we don't have school the rest of the week we won't have homecoming. If the roads are too bad to come to school they're too bad to come to homecoming. I'm holding out guarded hope that the roads will improve. We will let everyone know tomorrow evening the plan for homecoming. I don't want to cancel too early but I want to give everyone time to plan if we do decide to cancel. With the temperatures I don't think things will improve much from Wednesday evening until Friday morning so I think tomorrow evening will be a logical time to make the decision. This is a no-win situation and either way someone won't be happy but my commitment is to making sure the kids aren't driving home late on icy roads. I'll give the homecoming update tomorrow afternoon.
All practices are cancelled today - Jan. 7.
I'm sure it's no surprise to anyone but we will not be having school tomorrow. I am hopeful that we will be able to get back before the end of the week.
I'm sure it's not a surprise to anyone who has looked outside in the last 20 hours, but we are going to go ahead and cancel for tomorrow. It doesn't seem like there are any issues with electricity right now and hopefully there won't be. If anyone is in need of anything or needs to warm up, please contact me at 740-222-8311.

The Homecoming game and ceremony are scheduled for January 10th, and the dance is January 11th.

CTC students: Penny will run her CTC route as usual on Friday. Anyone who wants to leave before the end of school will be permitted to do so but the bus will be running at regular time. CTC students who don't attend on Friday will NOT be counted absent.
CTC students will not have school on Wednesday due to our early dismissal. We haven't decided the plan for Friday yet. Mr Meredith is going to let me know tomorrow what he wants our CTV kids to do on Friday.
I apologize for the late notice. I had hoped the snow would stop a little earlier, but it sticking on the hills now so we are going to be on a two hour delay tomorrow morning. If anyone needs to drop their kids off early because they have to work we will have somebody there at regular time. Thank you.
We have to split Donna's route in the morning. Brandis will be picking up the kids on Grassy. Penny will get 124. Doug will pick up Lapperel kids. All will be 10 minute later than normal.
Western Board of Education meeting on December 9th @ 6pm in the Richard Walls Boardroom
Mark your calendars for "A Night in Paris" Homecoming Dance. The ceremony will be on January 10th at the basketball game. The dance will be January 11th. This is for 7th- 12th grades. *Please remember this is a privilege, and if you have received any attendance or behavior write ups you by be on the list of no admittance. Check with the office if you have questions.

Just a reminder that Santa will be at the Christmas Tailgate on Friday night. He'll be available for family pictures and we'll have him where it's warm and cozy!!
Attention 11th graders who attend the high school. The ASVAB test for tomorrow has been rescheduled. We will give you a make up date when we get it. Thank you.
We know how forecasts go but here's the most current one for our area!

We are going to be operating on a 2 hour delay tomorrow morning. Temps won't be terrible but windchillls are predicted to by at or below zero with potential slick roads. My biggest concern is wind damage. There's a likelihood of limbs or trees being down and I'd rather face that in the daylight. I hate for kids to have to stand out in the wind and cold waiting for a bus that may be stuck waiting for a tree to be cut.
If you need to send your kids at normal time due to work scheduling you can drop them off at the front of either building at normal time and we'll take care of them.
