We will be having a FAFSA workshop on January 8th from 4:30-6 in Mrs. Schuler's room for anyone interested in help with filling out the FAFSA.

I know there were several parents who contact me over break about needing winter coats. If anyone is still in need of a coat please contact me at 740 222 8311 with your sizes and I'll get back with you. We don't have every size but we have several available. If we don't have the size you need we can hopefully find something. Please make sure you include your name and kids name and sizes in the message.

Hello Western Community,
As you may know, Western participates in the Stay in the Game! (SITG!) Campaign which helps support student attendance. The SITG! Network is partnering with McREL International, a research and development organization, to evaluate the effectiveness of the campaign. They are interested in hearing from parents/caregivers and students to learn about what is working and what can be improved for SITG! to better serve our district’s attendance-related goals.
Please take 10 minutes to complete the parent survey, considering the experience of your child/one of your children who is in the 5th grade or higher at the link below by Thursday, January 4, 2024. Upon completion of the survey, you will be asked if you provide active consent for your child/one of your children who is in the 5th grade or higher to participate in the student survey. If you agree, you will be provided information on how to share the survey link with your child.

I need to revise my previous post. After the messages that I've received this morning regarding coats there is more of a need than I thought. If any of our Western family want to purchase coats for us to keep here for students in need please let me know. We don't need 100 coats but we do need some. Most of the ones we have are smaller youth sizes but I've had a few messages regarding the need for medium and large coats for our JH and HS kids. Please don't go out and buy 25 coats! If you feel led to buy a coat/coats please message me (Brock) at 740 222 8311 and I'll let you know what we need.

If any Western students are in need of a new winter coat please let me know. These coats are really nice and brand new. Most are for kids K-6th or maybe JH. Some will work for HS students. If we don't have something that will fit I'll make sure we find something that will. Please text or call me at 740 222 8311 if your kids are in need of winter coats.

One more reminder about the Christmas tailgate this evening starting at 6 o'clock. Come and get your family pictures taken by professional photographers or get your kids picture with Santa or both. Lots of treats and fun for the kids.

Just a reminder of the Christmas Tailgate this evening starting at 6pm. Everyone is the Western community is invited. Please bring the kids out for Christmas treats, pictures with Santa (and the Grinch), and free professional family Christmas pics.

12/11/2023. There has been a statewide threat circulating regarding schools starting yesterday. It has been determined by law enforcement statewide to be a hoax. There is no credible evidence of any specific threat to any schools. As always, student safety is our top priority.

This is the message from law-enforcement in response to the nationwide email being circulated.

Congratulations to senior Roxanne Milar for being our school winner of the High School Heisman.

We just found out a couple minutes ago that we are not having a sub driver for Brandis. Penny May will be picking up her kids. She is going to be running about 35 minutes later than normal. First pick up should be in about 10 minutes. Sorry for the inconvenience.

We would like to send out a reminder that tonight's High School Basketball game is being played for Autism Awareness and to raise money for this wonderful cause. We ask that you please understand there will be no passes accepted . Also All Western Staff and Get in the Game sponsors will need to pay tonight as well since this is for a Fundraiser and not an actual regular season game. Western Students will still get in for Free.

The WHS Art Club is putting on it's very first Christmas play! Please see attachment for details.

There have been a couple changes to the Junior High Basketball Schedule and we wanted to make sure those were sent out to everyone who may have an old schedule. The December 2nd Home Games VS Whiteoak will start at 9:00 AM instead of 11:00AM. JH girls will play first as usual. Also, the January 4th games @Eastern Beaver will start at 5:00 PM & The January 22nd Home vs Eastern Beaver games will start at 5:00 PM . The last change is that South Gallia does not have a JH Girls team so on the dates we are scheduled to play them January 11th & 29th , it will only be JH boys playing.

Below is the athletics schedule for the week of 11/27-12/2

All Students & Staff are encouraged to wear Autism Awareness shirts to school on Tuesday November 28th in support of the High School Boys Basketball Autism Awareness foundation Game. The game will start at 6:00 PM with JV Boys. All staff who purchased a shirt from the fundraiser can wear it and jeans to school that day, and also any staff that did not purchase one can still wear jeans, but pay $5 for the Foundation.

Just a reminder that there is no school tomorrow. Everyone enjoy your last day of the Thanksgiving break!!
