Each year we have individuals and businesses who ask what our kids need for back to school. If you or you know an individual or business that would like to help with supplies for Western kids our kids always seem to run through tissues and dry erase markers faster than everything else. We also go through lots of wipes. These are items that we purchase but if someone does want to purchase something for kids, these three items are the most heavily used. As always, we appreciate the tremendous support our community gives our school and our kids.
Just a reminder to parents and students that back-to-school lists are the items that students most frequently use and that we often run short on. Purchasing these items are not a requirement but are items that you should look for when back-to-school shopping. If students aren't able to bring these supplies, as always, we will ensure that our students have what they need. The back to school bash being held on August 13th from 11-4 will have most of the items on the class lists if you are able to make it to the fairgrounds. If you would like for you child to have his/her own supplies but are having trouble getting them please message or call your child's principal and we'll make sure you child gets the appropriate supplies. 2022 High School Volleyball Schedule
The Western Local Board of Education has a projected position opening for a school board member to fill the unexpired term of Kristen Campbell. Kristen's anticipated resignation date will be August 15th, 2022. Please contact the Western BOE at 740 493 3113 for more information.

The volleyball scrimmage tonight against Piketon has been canceled.
Messages from the School Nurse 2022-23
1. If your student saw the eye doctor at the school in May and you got a paper saying they were getting glasses, then they can now be picked up at the school. The office is open Mon-Thurs from 9am-2 pm.
2. Any student entering 7th and 12th grade must get the required immunizations before school starts. Once you get the vaccine, please have them fax a copy to the school at 740-493-1059.
3. Any student who needs to take medications this coming school year must have a medication form filled out by their doctor before any medication can be administered.
Any parent who has a student who needs medication at school should go ahead and make an appointment with their doctor’s office to have the form filled out.
If you have any questions, please email the school nurse.
We will be offering three additional days and times of Kindergarten Registration for any student entering Kindergarten in August of this school year.

The Pike County Health Coalition is conducting a required federally mandated Community Health Assessment for Pike County. If you are a resident of Pike County, please follow the link listed below and complete the Community Health Assessment. We are in need of at least 600 responses and currently have less than 50.
You have the opportunity to help guide the health initiatives the Health Coalition and healthcare providers in Pike County focus on over the next few years. Summer school has been canceled for this week, June 22nd & 23rd due to the repairs on the air conditioner. The expected completion date for the unit is Wednesday but in case there are any adjustments that need to be made we don’t want to have kids there with the forecasted temperatures.
The plan is to have it the following week, June 27-30 if the air is completely fixed.

Due to the air condition issues at the school, our Summer Learning Academy will start on Wednesday next week.
Dates are as follows Wed June 22nd, Thursday June 23, and June 27th-30th.

This is a message from Mrs. Clifton for students going on the Chicago Art Trip June 1-3.
Students need to arrive at the Kroger parking lot in Waverly no later than 4:30 AM tomorrow morning. Please pack one small suitcase for 3 days. You may bring one carryon bag for the charter bus ride. Please bring snacks and waters for the bus/hotel room. No energy drinks. All school rules will apply.
The weather will be cool. Bring jackets and hoodies. What you wear on the bus will be your outfit for the day. We will travel from Waverly directly to the downtown Chicago area and start our tours. Dress appropriately! Parents can check on students through the REMIND app, on WhsArt on FB, or message Mrs Clifton directly.
