Senior shirts are in. Morgan and Jessica Whitley will be setup in front of the junior high gym on Monday, Aug 2nd from 4-7 for pickup. If this does not work, please message Jessica or Morgan Whitley to work out a time.

The following is a message from the school nurse: Just a few reminders as we get closer to starting a new school year. Please remember to keep up with your child’s vaccine schedule. Being immunized against vaccine preventable diseases is very important. Any student who is entering kindergarten, 7th and 12th grade are still required to get their vaccines to be able to attend school. Our Western SOMC site is scheduling appointments for vaccines. Please call 740-493-1800 for more information. Also for any student who will be needing to take medication during this upcoming school year, please make a visit to your health care provider and have the proper paperwork filled out and turned into the school by the first day. No medication can be given unless we have the order from your health care provider. This is in reference to normal school vaccines and not a COVID-19 vaccine. There is no requirements for.a COVID-19 vaccine. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact the school nurse.

Any junior high or high school student who would like to run cross country and is not playing another fall sport, (soccer, football, golf) please contact Randy McClay at 740-835-1198

Peewee sign up for Western Indians for football and cheerleading Grades K-6 will be held Friday July 23rd 630-8 and Monday July 26th from 6-8 at the field house behind the school.

There is a golf meeting this evening (7/20) at 5pm at the high school track for anyone in grades 9-12 interested in playing golf.

Attention all Jr High and high school students Cross country begins this week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 6:30-8:00. Same schedule for next week as well.

We will be offering three additional days and times of Kindergarten Registration for any student entering Kindergarten in August of this school year. Dates will be July 27, 28, & 29 from 12:00-1:00. There will be free food pick up at Williams Hardware Friday, July 16th, from 1030 until 3 for anyone in need.

We will be taking a bus tomorrow evening to Mr. Orin’s visitation if any students would want to attend but don’t have a ride. Bus will leave at 3:30 from the high school. If you would like to ride the bus please call 740-493-3113 tomorrow or message me on our district Facebook page.

Elementary yearbooks have arrived. They are available in the Elementary office for pick up Monday - Thursday.

Class of 2021, graduation pictures have arrived. High school Yearbooks for are in too. Pick up for both is at High School office. If you did not order a yearbook and want one, they are $40 (cash or check accepted.)

JH and HS soccer tonight 6-8:00. Cancelled for Thursday due to the visitation for Matt Orin.

I will post supply lists as they become available and then a comprehensive list as we get closer to school. Most lists won't be available this early but I will post as we get them.

I’ve been hesitant to make this post because I wanted to ensure that those closest to him heard the news from a more personal source than Facebook. Based on the posts I’ve seen this afternoon I believe it is now appropriate for me, as superintendent, it to share the news of Mr. Matt Orin’s passing with the district and the students who he loved so much along with their parents and all members of the Western community. I won’t go into detail but I can confirm that Mr. Orin passed away from an apparent heart attack very unexpectedly. Matt Orin was a valued member of the Western family. The multitude of posts by Western staff members and students will do a much better job of describing Matt and his impact on our school and community than I can. Matt has been a great friend to me and many others at Western for the past several years and he will be greatly and sadly missed by staff and students alike. When details of the arrangements are made public I will share them with our staff and students. Please keep his wife and young daughter in your prayers. Please also remember Western staff members and the students who he has made such a tremendous impact on in your prayers.

Attention Class of 2022: Senior Sports banner pictures will be taken July 16 and July 23 from 9-5 at Treasured Images studio in Waverly. Amy will contact you for an appointment time. This is definitely for any Senior playing soccer, football, cross country, volleyball but any sport can participate. Athletes have an option of putting ALL their sports on one banner if they choose. That means they can pick a main sport and have their other sports as a silhouette in the back ground. If you choose one banner, that banner will be hung in the gym for the school year. Banners are $100 each. Or the athlete can have as many banners as they play sports. Their choice. Rachel will be at school on Tuesday July 13 from 11-3 to pass out uniforms. Please make arrangement to pick up the uniforms you are getting your picture taken in. There will be a paper at Treasured Images to fill out with your name, sports numbers & sponsorship so your banner can be made. Payment is due day of pictures. If you need a banner and have not been contacted yet, please comment your name. Thank you.

Attention Western Class of 2022!  Morgan was put in charge of senior shirts so thus, this mom is in charge of senior shirts. Below is the design of the shirt, along with pricing. Attention K-12 students who are signed up for summer school. The first day is Monday July 12th. Times are 8:30-11:30. Students will be served breakfast and lunch. Students who are getting dropped off and picked up, please use the front entrance. We are not sure the exact bus pick up times. Students should be ready around 7:30-7:45. The drivers have a list of who has signed up and they will make sure they pick them up. If they did not sign up they can’t come on Monday. Attention JH and HS soccer players. Message from coach Remington. This week start three days a week. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. If we are going to be successful this season you need to be there whenever you can. The more you are there the better you will be and the father ahead of everyone else you will be. Success requires hard work and practice. 6:30-8:00 all three nights.
