This was a tougher call than normal for me on this game tonight. I had initially planned to have the game. The highways are good and probably several backroads are OK. This is a picture of Lapperel at 11:15. Beavers Ridge is passable. Dry Bone has been worse. This is the situation with most roads. If I didn't know that 100 teenagers would be driving I wouldn't worry about it. The roads may be fine by 5:00. If they are fine and the game is cancelled it'll be considered a missed opportunity for a game. If the game stays on and the roads don't get better and one of them wrecks on snow then it becomes much more of a debated decision. With that being said and because I have to decide by noon, we are going to cancel. I believe that all other games in our league have been canceled already. I'm erring on the side of caution for kids' safety. No one wants to play more than me but I'm the only one who has to answer for a dumb decision made so I can watch a game!!! Welcome to my world!! Either way, no kid HAS to drive tonight if they don't want to.

School will be canceled for Friday, January 6 for very obvious reasons! This was a pretty easy call considering it is still snowing and the temperatures are going to be very cold in the morning. Kids enjoy a good old fashioned snow day!

Western Jr/Sr High School is letting out at 1:00 today for impending snow. All Athletic events are cancelled tonight and will be rescheduled. #tribepride

It appears that most of the weather predictors are in agreement that the snow is going to start around 2 PM today. We will be dismissing students today at 1 o’clock. Buses will be hitting 124 at 1 PM today. Sorry for the late notice but we wanted to try to get a handle on the timing before we made the decision on when to dismiss.

Western Fans: The Boys Game tonight at Sciotoville will require that you have a mask on as you enter the gymnasium. When you are eating, drinking or properly spaced you may remove your mask. Thank you! #tribepride

Monday is at planned staff inservice day. First day for students is Tuesday, 1/4. Looking forward to seeing everyone bright and early on Tuesday morning.

Junior High Boys Basketball Games tomorrow will be cancelled. We will look to reschedule with Peebles at some time in January. #tribepride

Attention pee wee cheerleaders.
Tomorrow’s boys game is varsity only.
The game will start at 6:00. You will cheer at half time. Please be to the school by 5:00 for practice. You will enter through the high school back entrance. Cheerleaders will get in free. Admission for adults is $5.00

Tomorrow's Boys Game will be a Varsity only contest. It will begin at 6:00pm. Due to injury and illness Clay will not have enough kids to play a Junior Varsity game. Again 6:00 Varsity start for Boys Basketball tomorrow at home. Thanks. #tribepride

I just sent a voice message but I wanted to reiterate the message in a couple of other ways. I want to make parents aware of the latest TikTok challenge. This challenge encourages students to commit acts of school violence on December 17. Many of you may be like me and don’t follow TikTok but I can assure you that most kids do. These challenges are designed to cause destruction in our schools and to cause students to get in trouble or much worse. This is not a local issue. It is a nationwide challenge. I wanted to make all parents aware of this so you can talk to your students about it. It’s important to communicate with your kids about the danger of these challenges. Thank you for your continued support.

Just a reminder that all students will be dismissed tomorrow (Friday) at 12 o’clock.

Food pickup at Williams Hardware today (12/15) until 2:45 pm.

Donna will be unable to drive her route the rest of the week. We will keep trying to get a sub but we are not able to get one for this evening or tomorrow morning. We will be splitting her route like we do in the evenings sometimes so times will be adjusted. Students who drop off on Lapperell will arrive home earlier than normal. I would expect first drop off on Lapperel to be around 305. Students who live on Grassyfork and 124 should not have much of a change. It will be the same drop off time as it normally is when we had to split her route. Tomorrow morning the route will also be split. Time will be very close to the same as this morning.

Donna is unable to drive in the morning so students who ride her bus will be split in the same way we do sometimes in the evening. Donna’s Grassyfork kids who normally ride bus five when we split will ride bus five in the morning with the first pick up at 7:30. First pick up on Lapperel will be at Stewart Hollow at 7:15. Students who live on 124 and ride bus 9 first pick up will be 7:35. I apologize for the late message. Just got home from the board meeting.
