This is a reminder from Mrs. Long: students taking CCP courses this year that even though they’ve been accepted into the program, they might need to retake the placement test or take it for the first time if they plan to take English comp (Seniors Course) or a math class with Mrs. Forbes. If they need to take a placement test, they need to contact Southern State or Shawnee immediately to be able to get that done before the deadline August 1!

Families of students in Kindergarten-6th grade. We have several students who have awards and personal belongings still at the school. We are asking all items be picked by Tuesday, June 30th. If you are unsure if your child has any items, please call the school at 740-493-2881. The school is open for item pick up Monday-Thursday from 7:00-3:00. The office will be closed July 1st-5th.

Reminder: Any student who wants to take college credit plus classes for the 2020-21 school year needs to apply online at Southern State and/or Shawnee State and also needs to contact the university to schedule to take the placement test virtually. Also, if you participated at Southern State this year but need to retake your placement test in order to take a specific Math or English class this needs to be completed also. All applications must be submitted and placement tests completed before the deadline August 1, 2020.

It seems as if we will be able to begin conditioning and strength training the middle to end of June with the Govenors permission?? I will be the HS & Co- Jr High coach for the upcoming season and moving forward. Hello students and parents. We are trying to hand out all awards both academic and athletic on one day for each grade. This way, students and parents only have to come in once. Please wear clothing that you’d like to get your picture taken in. Your picture will be included on our virtual awards video. The following students will come in on their specified days: *All athletic awards are high school. *All HS Boys and Girls basketball, HS cheerleaders, HS softball, Baseball, and Track athletic awards will be given out when students come in to take their picture for academic awards. (Please refer to the day your grade comes in below.) *Times are 9am-1pm each day. Tuesday, May 26 juniors and seniors can come in to get their picture taken with their athletic awards and their academic awards. Diplomas can be picked up as well with a student signature. Wednesday, May 27 will be ninth and 10th graders. Thursday, May 28 will be seventh and eighth graders. *All students will be contacted individually for academic awards if they are receiving them. *All 8th graders need to come in on their day (May 28th) for 8th grade graduation pictures. Attention all students K-12 Last Thursday we posted on our Western Elementary Facebook page asking two questions about internet service. That post has been removed. We are not sure why or how that happened. We just posted this again on the district and elementary FB pages. If you already answered the questions through FB messenger, you do not have to resend. However, if you commented on the post, you will need to answer the questions again. We apologize for any inconveniences. Please answer the following questions for ALL current students in your home (even those who just graduated). 1. Do students at this address have home Internet Connectivity? If yes, what type? Satellite, wireless, Frontier/Spectrum 2. Do students at this address have home access to a device to connect to the Internet? If yes, what type? Phone, desk top computer, laptop, I Pad. We need a response ASAP. You can message the school through FB messenger or call 740-493-2881. If no one answers, please leave a message. Again, this is for EVERY current student in our district.

Youth league softball and baseball update The Western Youth league committee is disappointed to inform you, that we will be canceling spring baseball and softball. We are also grateful for all of the parents, coaches and players support and patience throughout this difficult time. We want to make sure we are doing what’s best for our kids and community, and with everything going on we feel canceling is the only option. Unfortunately shirts and hats have already been purchased and are non-refundable. We will be adding a $25 credit for kids to play next year. If for any reason your child doesn’t play next year we will give you the $25 in a refund after signups. We apologize for any inconvenience and hope that everyone understands that we are doing the best we can to keep everyone safe. We will be at the school Tuesday May 12th 5-7 Wednesday 13th 9-12pm so you can pick up your child’s shirt, hats and parent shirts that were ordered! We will be set up in the JUNIOR HIGH BUBBLE. Primary/elementary families There are still several students who have not turned in work and/or picked up their belongings. We are extending the date for both to Wed. May 13th. Work can be turned in two ways: 1. Emailing completed work to teachers 2. Dropping off completed work to the school and placing in the bin. The office will be open Monday-Friday from 8-3:00 for student belonging pick up. However, school work can be dropped off at any time and placed in the bin. There is also a table outside with lost and found items. We realize this is a lot on the families and students. However, we are asking for an effort to be made on the work. The teachers are available to answer any questions you have.

This is a reminder to all students in grades 7-12 that all work for the last nine weeks is due today. There is a student drop box outside in front of the high school office for you to drop your work in. Also, please remember that lockers have been cleaned out. Student belongings are in the front high school office if you have not yet picked up your things out of your lockers. Please call ahead if you would like to come and pick up your belongings.

Just a reminder today, Fri. May 8th, is the last day to pick up student belongings for students in grades K-6. We will be here until 1:00p.m. today. Today is also the due date for work sent home the week of April 6. There is a black tub outside the office door if you need to turn in papers, or you can email pictures to the teachers.
