I’ve been hesitant to make this post because I wanted to ensure that those closest to him heard the news from a more personal source than Facebook. Based on the posts I’ve seen this afternoon I believe it is now appropriate for me, as superintendent, it to share the news of Mr. Matt Orin’s passing with the district and the students who he loved so much along with their parents and all members of the Western community. I won’t go into detail but I can confirm that Mr. Orin passed away from an apparent heart attack very unexpectedly. Matt Orin was a valued member of the Western family. The multitude of posts by Western staff members and students will do a much better job of describing Matt and his impact on our school and community than I can. Matt has been a great friend to me and many others at Western for the past several years and he will be greatly and sadly missed by staff and students alike. When details of the arrangements are made public I will share them with our staff and students. Please keep his wife and young daughter in your prayers. Please also remember Western staff members and the students who he has made such a tremendous impact on in your prayers.

Attention Class of 2022: Senior Sports banner pictures will be taken July 16 and July 23 from 9-5 at Treasured Images studio in Waverly. Amy will contact you for an appointment time. This is definitely for any Senior playing soccer, football, cross country, volleyball but any sport can participate. Athletes have an option of putting ALL their sports on one banner if they choose. That means they can pick a main sport and have their other sports as a silhouette in the back ground. If you choose one banner, that banner will be hung in the gym for the school year. Banners are $100 each. Or the athlete can have as many banners as they play sports. Their choice. Rachel will be at school on Tuesday July 13 from 11-3 to pass out uniforms. Please make arrangement to pick up the uniforms you are getting your picture taken in. There will be a paper at Treasured Images to fill out with your name, sports numbers & sponsorship so your banner can be made. Payment is due day of pictures. If you need a banner and have not been contacted yet, please comment your name. Thank you.

Attention K-12 students who are signed up for summer school. The first day is Monday July 12th. Times are 8:30-11:30. Students will be served breakfast and lunch. Students who are getting dropped off and picked up, please use the front entrance. We are not sure the exact bus pick up times. Students should be ready around 7:30-7:45. The drivers have a list of who has signed up and they will make sure they pick them up. If they did not sign up they can’t come on Monday. Attention JH and HS soccer players. Message from coach Remington. This week start three days a week. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. If we are going to be successful this season you need to be there whenever you can. The more you are there the better you will be and the father ahead of everyone else you will be. Success requires hard work and practice. 6:30-8:00 all three nights.

Just FYI, there is no way to control the placement of the YouTube feed. I can’t say for sure if it’s going to show the stage the entire time or not. The safest bet is probably to view through Facebook if you can. We are not able to control the camera. Unfortunately that’s just the way the system works.
