Due to the increased spread of COVID cases in our area and the potential exposure during the Thanksgiving Holiday, Western Local Schools will be extending Thanksgiving Break through the week of December 1-4. We were already scheduled off on Monday and Friday of that week. Students will be off Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of that week also. These will be considered blended learning days and will function like our blended learning Fridays.
There will be a Boosters meeting tonight, Tues. Nov 10th in the high school cafeteria. This if for any parent (of any age student) who is interested in being part of the sports boosters club. Social distancing will be in place. Masks must be worn.
Senior FASFA workshop appointments with Mrs. Schuler are still on this evening.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 10th students will be dismissed at 12:00 for Parent Teacher Conferences.
Conferences will be held from 1:00-8:00 and will be by phone or virtually. There will no in person conferences (parents coming to school) as originally planned.
If you were scheduled to come in, the teacher will call you at your scheduled time.
If you did not make an appointment and would like to speak to your child’s teacher, you may call the school between the hours of 1-7:45. Please note you may have to leave a message for the teacher and they will return the call between scheduled appointments.

COVID 19 update

Reminder there is No School for students tomorrow, Friday, November 6.
Teresa’s after school mall bus is running late on Beavers Ridge. Probably 30 minutes.
Just a reminder that voters in Mifflin, Benton, and Perry townships will vote at Western High School on Tuesday, November 3rd. Voting will be held in the junior high gym.

CTC students will operate like it is a blended learning Friday. We will have a bus running from the high school to the CTC in the morning and back in the afternoon like we do on our blended Fridays. Attendance is not required but you are encouraged to attend if possible.
Pike Water had a major line break this afternoon and we will not have enough water pressure for students to attend school tomorrow. Staff will report as usual but students will have the day off. All Halloween activities will be moved to Monday.

Debbie Scarborough’s bus 17 is running about 15 minutes late this morning due to mechanical issues. Expect her around 15 minutes later than normal.
Boys Jr High basketball open gym Monday and Thursday this week 3-5:00.

Rainbow trail is still closed this morning so Doug and Cox with bus one and Brandis with bus five are running a few minutes late. They will be there but are running a little behind.

There will be a FAFSA Workshop on November 10 from 4:00 - 6:30 by appointments only. We have a professional that will be assisting students & their parents in completing the FAFSA for college. This will fill up fast, call (740) 493-2514 or email Mrs. Schuler to make an appointment ASAP.

Fall Youth Sports pictures
Remind her pictures will be taken this evening.
Football Pictures will be taken up at the high school field beside the field house. Please do not drive up to the field house. You will need to park and walk up the hill. The schedule is as follows.
K-1 Flag 5:00
2-4 Flag 5:15
5-6 tackle 5:30
K-4 flag will practice together at the youth league field following pictures.
Volleyball pictures will be in the jr high gym
3rd-4th 6:00
5th-6th 6:15
No practice, just pictures.
Youth volleyball information (shirts will be passed out at practice on Thursday)
Games will be played on Oct. 10th, 17th, & 24th in the Jr. High Gym
3rd & 4th 10:00
5th & 6th 11:00
Each player will receive 4 tickets. Admission for adults is $1.00 kids are free but must have a ticket.
Families need to sit together and social distance from other families. If you are closer than 6 feet from the next family, mask are to be worn.
The gym will be cleared between games.
Tickets will be given to the players the Thursday before each game.
