The state required ACT test for Juniors will be Wednesday February 20th. All juniors (those who attend the CTC and the high school) will need to be at the high school at 7:45 Wednesday morning for the test.

I apologize for taking so long to do this drive and fighting this all evening but I have decided to go ahead and call a two hour delay for tomorrow morning. I’ve driven several county roads and almost all of them have standing water covering part of the road. Some roads like red bridge and Bell Hollow have water completely covering them right now. I’m also concerned about downed trees and I want to give a drivers the best chance to see any potential hazards left over from flooding or from the wind so we will be operating on a two hour delay for tomorrow morning. I think we will be able to have school tomorrow but I’m afraid I can’t get all of the roads checked in the morning before 6 AM to make the best decision possible.

Softball conditioning is canceled for tonight due to roads becoming potentially worse than they are now with more rain forecasted. Apologies for any confusion!

Softball conditioning isn’t mandatory. Do not attempt traveling your roads if there’s any flooding.

Softball conditioning will start at 4:30 today and go to 5:30

Softball conditioning is still on 4:00 to 5:30

The boys games for tonight are canceled. We will let you know when they are rescheduled as soon as possible.

Bus 1 may be running a few minutes late because of a tree down on the route

Junior high boys and girls game is still on for tonight. Varsity girls game is still on for tonight at home also. Reminder that tonight is senior night for the girls!
Western Lady Indians Softball Conditioning is still on for today Monday Feb 11 4:30-5:30. Junior high Gym. Dress for success in shorts or sweatpants, t-shirt, and tennis shoes! (Dress appropriately) Also, bring a water bottle!
Go Indians! 💚

5th/6th grade students: The due date for the scientific research report is now due Thursday, Feb. 14th. The whole science fair project that consists of the report and display board, to get a chance of moving on to the district science fair, will be due on Tuesday, February 19

Western will be closed on Monday due to icy roads.

We are going to be operating on a two hour delay for Monday due to icy road conditions and cold temperatures overnight. Expecting everything to be fine in the morning but roads are terrible right now and we are afraid that they won’t warm up enough to melt overnight. We’d rather have daylight to navigate the roads.

The boys games for tonight are still on. Basketball players and cheerleaders can be at the school by 3:30 pm. You will be fed today before the game.

Unfortunately due to 3 Major Rd. closures in the district we are going to have to cancel today. That in addition to the fact it is going to only be 26 by the time we let out of school forces me to have to cancel. Redbridge Road, Beavers Ridge Road, and 124 below Idaho are all underwater. Beavers Ridge being closed is always our biggest issue because we have buses that have to get off of there trough Idaho to get to other routes.

We will be operating on a two hour delay for Friday, February 8.

Senior night for our girls is rescheduled for Monday night.

The high school girls and Jr. High games have been cancelled for this evening.
A make up day for the game and senior night has not been determined at this time.

I have never canceled school on a forecast but after yesterday and with the forecast of rain coming today my fear is that we would have to have an early dismissal again after the delay which wouldn’t make any sense because we would.be spending more time on buses today than in the classroom. Forecast says anywhere between 3/4 of an inch and 2 inches. We could possibly handle 3/4 that we couldn’t handle anymore than that without the ditches being in the same condition as yesterday. If we don’t get the rain I will apologize for canceling on a forecast. If we do it will look like a smart idea! That’s the world I live in every day!

I’m going to go ahead and call a two hour delay for tomorrow morning. The forecast isn’t talking about a lot more rain through the night but I’m more worried about ditches and back roads still being flooded in the morning and also the likelihood of debris laying on the road. I would much rather deal with that in the daylight than the dark.

All students will be dismissing at 1:30 except students who ride Tonda Hatfields bus number 10 will be leaving today at 12:30
