I'm going to do something that I have never done before, but I feel like this is a situation where I can justify it. We are going to be on a two hour delay tomorrow. This situation is a little different because of the conditions of driveways and the fact that some parents are not able to get down to the end of the road to wait on the bus with their kids. I want you to use your judgment as a parent and if you feel like it is too cold for your child to stand out and wait for the bus in the morning then you can send a note in with them on Thursday and they will be excused. We will only be able to excuse them if you send in a note stating that they were not there because of the cold temperatures. I don't want to cancel tomorrow because we have a lot of kids that need to be in school tomorrow and I don't want to take away that opportunity. Tomorrow will be a judgment call for you as a parent on whether or not you send your child. Again, in order for the absence to be excuse you need to send in a note with them when they return to school.

If you were scheduled for an attendance meeting tomorrow morning at 9 AM at the high school, it is being rescheduled due to the 2 hour delay. The letter's that you received do state this, but we wanted to send out a reminder just in case. We will have someone contact you with a new meeting date. Thank you.

We will have our LAST two hour delay tomorrow!! The forecasted low is 1 degree tomorrow morning. I apologize for the inconvenience. We will have staff here at normal time in the morning for anyone who needs to drop their students off at regular time.

Bus 15 is running 15 minutes late. Please let your kids know that they can wait 15 minutes to go outside.

Reminder: Our annual College Credit Plus information meeting will be this evening at 6:00 pm in room 101. Please enter at the front High school entrance. This meeting is important for students in grades 6-11 who are interested in earning college credit next school year. Thank you!

I will send out the meeting times for the ends of the roads we are running later this evening once I get a complete list rather than sending out a bunch of individual messages

We will be operating on a two hour delay for tomorrow in order to give our student drivers and our bus drivers daylight just in case of re-freezing and also for the bus turnarounds. We will not pick up or drop off on the following roads tomorrow. Red Bridge, McCoy, Beekman Ridge, Tater Knob, Stewart Hollow, Fields Hollow, Davis Rd, Turner Rd, Hackelshin, Owens Rd, Viar Rd. There could be a couple of additions to this list. I know this is an inconvenience, but we can't take a chance on getting a driver stuck in a turnaround tomorrow. These are the roads the drivers wanted to give an extra day. We will check all these tomorrow and hopefully we'll be able to run on Tuesday. If you need to know the time to meet the bus at the end of these roads, text me at 740-222-311 and I will get you a time. Thank you.

For grades 6-11

Good afternoon my wonderful primary/elementary staff.
Here's some information concerning the PD/work day tomorrow.
1. You can wear jeans or comfy clothes.
2. Lunch will NOT be provided. Sorry. Please bring something to eat or maybe you want to be adventurous and eat the left over snacks still in your room from the Christmas party.
3. We will meet in the elementary cafeteria at 8:05 for a short meeting. I can't wait to see you all....well most of you all. LOL Just kidding.

I had fully planned to have kids come tomorrow until I saw the snow is forecasted to start at 2pm tomorrow. Anything that falls will stick. The highways and county roads are in pretty good shape and the guys have worked all week on the parking lot so that really isn't an issue. If it doesn't snow I'll fully admit it was a mistake to not have school. If we were here and it snows before we get home we're in a full-blown mess.
The staff will be here. If any students need to come in to get warmed up or for a meal that is perfectly fine. We've been out way too long. I just need to know who will be coming so we can prepare the food. Parents will need to stay with your kids and we'll make sure you get something to eat, also. I apologize for the inconvenience. This is one of the tough calls where student safety becomes the determining factor. Again, if we have kids or families who need a meal we will be here.

I had planned to have kids come tomorrow but the snow is forecasted to start around 2pm tomorrow and the last thing I want to do is try to get kids home in snow. We are going to have staff report to work tomorrow at 8am. I'll make sure to get everyone home well before the snow starts so I'll monitor that closely. I know that Waverly is closing and I assume maybe Piketon and Eastern also but I'm not sure. If you aren't able to get anyone to watch your kids you can bring them with you (as long as you keep them in your rooms). We'll use tomorrow for some individual PD and I know that several people have a reading PD already scheduled. Bethany and JR will be in communication regarding expectations for tomorrow.

The homecoming game has been rescheduled for next Friday 1/17. The dance will be Saturday evening 1/18. The boys have an away game at North Adams, but it is a 2:45 start. This is our only home Friday night open Saturday night, weekend until the last game of the season. Everything will be just the same as was planned for this weekend. It's just going to be postponed for one week. Every reschedule brings some inconvenience with it, but this is the only option where we can have a game on Friday and the day it's on Saturday.
I've been out driving all evening and we are going to do do everything possible to have school on Friday with limited busing. I'll make the call for sure tomorrow afternoon after we get all of our buses plowed out.

We will be canceling tomorrow. I'll put out the official message a little later today regarding the ball game and homecoming. I'm sure everyone has already figured out that we're going to cancel both with our current conditions and the forecast but I'll put out the detailed info later today.

I know the burning question on everyone's mind (at least at the JH/HS) concerns homecoming. There hasn't been a decision made yet but if we don't have school the rest of the week we won't have homecoming. If the roads are too bad to come to school they're too bad to come to homecoming. I'm holding out guarded hope that the roads will improve. We will let everyone know tomorrow evening the plan for homecoming. I don't want to cancel too early but I want to give everyone time to plan if we do decide to cancel. With the temperatures I don't think things will improve much from Wednesday evening until Friday morning so I think tomorrow evening will be a logical time to make the decision. This is a no-win situation and either way someone won't be happy but my commitment is to making sure the kids aren't driving home late on icy roads. I'll give the homecoming update tomorrow afternoon.

All practices are cancelled today - Jan. 7.

I'm sure it's no surprise to anyone but we will not be having school tomorrow. I am hopeful that we will be able to get back before the end of the week.
