According to Jodi, our nurse, a headache has been the first symptom of this flu, so please consider that a potential symptom if your child is experiencing an unusual headache

I just sent a voice message regarding our flu situation at school. We've had several students test positive for the flu and sent several kids home sick today. We have an extra custodian that is sanitizing everything each evening. If your child has any flu symptoms please keep them home. If you're unsure call the school and talk to the nurse. The quickest way to get through this is to make sure we don't have sick kids coming to school. If you have questions don't hesitate to call. Thank you.

Just received a message from Jimmy that he's not going to be able to drive on his part of Leeth Creek this morning. Turn around still has snow and ice. I apologize for the late notice.

I know I posted this earlier but I want to make sure everyone knows we are a two hour delay. I've had a few messages asking so I want to clarify that we are on a delay.

After talking to the trustees in Mifflin and Benton we have decided to delay. It was too cold on Saturday to spread gravel so most of the backroads are still covered. I'll be putting out a list of the roads. We will not be driving a little later this evening. If you live on one of those roads your child will not be counted absent. We will have someone at school by 7:15 in each building if you need to drop your child off due to your work schedule.

The homecoming ceremony will begin at 7pm, doors will open at 6:30. Pictures will follow the ceremony, picture packets will be available. The dance will begin at 8, tickets can be purchased at the door.

We are under level one now, which just means to drive with caution. The backroads are currently covered. Hoping everything is better by this evening. Unless we are switched to a level two we will have the homecoming ceremony as planned.

We had a mixup with a sub for bus 5 Brandis this morning so bus five is running late. First pick up should be about 20 minutes from now. I apologize for the inconvenience. If your kids are outside Please have them come back in for a little bit. First pick up will be around 8 o'clock.

I know the burning question on the minds of all JH and HS kids is "what about homecoming?" There is snow forecasted Thursday night into Friday and South Gallia is the traveling school. The away school has the decision-making power regarding whether or not they want to travel and even if the snow misses us it could hit them and they could cancel and I don't like being at the mercy of another school when hair, makeup, and dresses are involved. The weather looks good for Saturday. SO, we are going to have everything on Saturday evening. We've done this a few times in the past and it works out really well. We'll have the HC ceremony exactly the way we would at the game on Saturday at 7. Then we'll have pictures afterwards and then have the dance from 8-10. Everything for Saturday will be the exactly the same as planned except we'll add the HC ceremony and move everything back an hour. We will have a redo of the HC ceremony on Friday 1/26 at the game for the court only so the queen and court will be able to get the recognition that comes with the ballgame setting. The only difference is that we'll already know who the queen is.

I hate to cancel for cold, but I just received notice of a -10 windchill advisory so we are going to have to cancel. I will be there all day so if anyone needs to come in and get warmed up or to go to the clinic please let me know. If anyone needs power packs or anything or needs to get warmed up feel free to come in. I will be there all day.

This is one of those iffy calls because we didn't get much snow out here like the other schools did. Our roads aren't bad, but we have student drivers coming from roads that may be slick and it's definitely cold. All of the other schools in the county have canceled so we are going to cancel also.

Tomorrow's forecasted temp/windchill is going to be about the same or colder than today. Therefore, will be on a 2 hour delay. We will not cancel unless there is unexpected weather tonight. I realize that delays are an inconvenience for working parents. If you have to work and aren't able to get your kids on the bus or school at the delay time we will have monitors in both buildings to watch your kids starting at 7:15. This is ONLY if you aren't able to arrange transportation due to a work conflict. If you need to drop your students off early text me at +1 (740) 222-8311 so we can make arrangements.

We will be operating tomorrow on a two hour delay. I realize that the temperature won't be any better at nine than at seven but it will be daylight, which means there is much less chance of a driver running behind.
