We will have school tomorrow, but we will start on a two hour delay. There are several roads that we will not be able to run. I've been out checking all afternoon and there are some definitely slick spots and roads that we're going to have to skip. I will put out a list of all of those roads later this evening once I've heard from all the drivers. The delay is to give bus drivers and student drivers daylight so when they do come to a slick spot or have to hit a turnaround, they will be able to see. I will put that list out later this evening on Facebook and by text.
We are going to postpone our last Grateful Grub event for the year until after Christmas. As expected (hoped for may be more accurate) the Thankful Thursdays have been a huge hit. THEREFORE, we are going to continue with a monthly Grateful Grub event ( we may have to change the name) going forward. We couldn't have done this without the support of many volunteers and lots of donations. We've had so many donations and business and individuals have stepped up - as they always do in West LA and Pike County. I do want to give a special thanks for Bill Miller and Peggy Logan for donating the money for our community Thanksgiving meal. We were able to serve close to 230 Thanksgiving meals. As always, thank you to the Greater Western Community for your generosity and support. As we move in to the new year we plan to continue giving back to the community that always supports our kids.

We had hoped to be able to have school on Tuesday, although it never really felt very likely. We will be canceling for tomorrow, Tuesday. We plan to be back in session on Wednesday, hopefully at regular time. These are pictures from Rainbow Trail and Beavers Ridge just to give you an idea of how two of our main roads we have to travel look currently.
JV Boys Basketball game against Fayetteville this evening has been canceled. Monday, Dec. 15.
Varsity Girls Basketball game and Jr High Basketball games on Monday, Dec 15 against Symmes Valley have been canceled.
Based on the conditions of the back roads and the fact that it's going to be near zero tonight, we are going to go ahead and cancel tomorrow, Monday 12/15. We had already planned an early dismissal in order for staff and students to be able to attend Jaidon Tackett's visitation and funeral tomorrow. The funeral will still be as scheduled tomorrow with visitation from 12 to 2 followed by the funeral at 2 PM. Hopefully we will be able to have school on Tuesday. Also, please keep the Tackett family and the Western staff and students in your prayers.
HS Boys and Girls Basketball at Peebles has been canceled for Saturday, December 13.
Now that the arrangements have been finalized for Jaidon I want to get that information out there for all of you. The visitation will be at Western High School on Monday from 12 until 2 followed by the service at 2. With the weather forecast, I would say there's a good chance we will not be in school on Monday but hopefully that will all change between now and then. If we are in school, we will have an early dismissal at 11:30 for students. We want students to be able to attend along with staff so we will put more information out about how to arrange that if you would like your student stay and meet you at the visitation. I will follow up with more information but I did want make sure everybody knows the details to be better able to make arrangements for the early dismissal and to be able to plan to attend the visitation and/or funeral.

Reminder about the annual Christmas tailgate and Christmas tree lighting tonight starting at 6 o'clock. Also, the West LA Brew and West LA Designs will be open so you can get some Western wear and your favorite holiday iced coffee or energizer. Will be featuring a reading of the Christmas story by Mr Dunn immediately following the Christmas tree lighting and recognition of the 2025 Western Christmas Special Honoree!! It's gonna be cold, but it's always a lot of fun so please try to stop by before the Buckeyes game
We still have several Seniors who have not ordered Cap and Gowns. Please get this done ASAP. December 15th is the Deadline for the current Pricing. The Price will go up after that since it would be counted as a late order. We have forms at the High School and it can also be done online!
